​I first met Howard Fogg on a train trip back in 1984.  From that time until his passing we talked and corresponded about art, mostly his.  He showed me some of his secrets for which I am very grateful, and told me things to help me with my career.   As I improved, Howard and others likened my work to his.  Howard and I use the same pallet and he also turned me on to different materials, however our work does differ in technique.  After Howard's passing in 1996, I was approached by collectors of Howard's work and asked if I could repair and touch up some of Fogg's damaged paintings.  I was told I could try and told them I would do my best. From that time I have touched up and repaired around forty originals, both oil and watercolor.  Some are shown below.

I love to paint the "Big Boys!"  Fogg like to paint them too.  This one had mold growing on it too.  The lettering had also faded.  I took out the mold and redid the lettering.  Good as new. 



















Fogg wasn't too fond of painting narrow gauge subjects.  For this painting he  started with a Stiemheimer pan shot of K-36 487 from 1965.  He painted it as the 481.  IN the 1960's, 487 had the air compressor exhaust piped out behind the stack.  I asked the owner of the painting if he wanted me to make the locomotive 481 as it was in the 1940's, which meant changing the locomotive along with taking care of the mold.  It turned out well.














The fix


This was the first of the "moldy" paintings I tried to fix.  There were a few changes I had to  make in the sky as the mold was bad there.  Overall it turned out well.
